Kawaii Japanese welcome cat puzzle erasers made by Iwako are your eraser buddies, eco-friendly take-apart puzzle erasers designed and made in Japan.  The Maneki Neko 招き猫^?, literally "Beckoning Cat"; also known as Welcoming Cat, Lucky Cat, Money cat, or Fortune Cat is a common Japanese sculpture, which is believed to bring good luck to the owner. The sculpture depicts a cat (traditionally a Japanese Bobtail) beckoning with an upright paw, and is usually displayed—many times at the entrance—in shops, restaurants, pachinko parlors, and other businesses. In the design of the sculptures, a raised left paw supposedly attracts money, while a raised right paw protects it.

Technically speaking, Iwako's Japanese puzzle eraser reached a new high in 2011 with the first introduction of the Koala Japanese erasers.  The breakthrough is in the structure of an eraser, the eyes and nose are not inserted, but built inside the head as a skull, the head itself is 2-piece of eraser skins wrap over the internal head/skull.  This is followed by the cat eraser in May 2011, the eyes and nose are built into the internal head part.  Technically this is very challenging and expensive, because the parts must be extremley precision made to fit perfectly, just like hi-tech smartphones or airplane parts, everything must be built to the same level of advanced techincal skills.
